Singed Edge Flower Hair Clip

1) Gather Supplies: synthetic satin fabric, scissors, candle, embroidery floss, beads, alligator clip, and felt.

2) Iron fabric.

3) Cut multiple circles in descending sizes.

4) Singe edges of fabric circles.  Hold the fabric above the flame (not directly in the flame).  As the edge curls turn the fabric until the entire edge has curled. Be careful not to let the fabric catch on fire!

5) Embellish the center of the flower with beads.

6) Stitch the alligator clip to a piece of felt.

7) Sew the felt wih clip attached to the bottom of the satin flower.

Fall Felt Fair-clip

1) Gather supplies:
~ 4 felt circles: 3 in descending sizes for the top of the clip and 1 slightly smaller than the largest of the first 3 for the underside of the clip.
     ~ Scissors.
~ Various beads, a button, and embroidery floss for embellishment.
     ~ Alligator hair clip.

 2) Stitch the 3 concentric circles together.  Then add embroidery stitches, beads, and a button.

 3) Sew the alligator clip to the 4th felt circle.

4) Stitch the top circles to the bottom circle.  Having a slightly smaller bottom circle gives the finished hair clip some volume.

I made this as a gift for a friend.  I started by having her choose her 3 favorite colors, which I did a few weeks ago when we met for a visit in Walterboro (1/2 way).  She is now on the way from her house in Beaufort to my house in Columbia with her baby and husband for our 5th annual expedition to the S.C. State Fair.  I'll post a picture later of the Fall Felt Fair-clip in action.
